 The cleansing of the temple is recorded in all three Synoptic Gospels. Within the land there were three common currencies, Roman, Greek, and Jewish. The required offering in the temple was the Jewish currency and so money changes set-up shop in order to provide Jewish coinage. Finally, the outer court of the temple became a through fair for moving merchandise between parts of the city. The result, the temple had become a busy place for all sorts of things that were not part of the intentional worship of God.
