Objectives

  • By the end of the activity everyone in the class will be able to recite 1 John 1:9 from memory.

Scripture Memory

  • 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Actions

  • One way of increasing the probability of a memory being resilient in the brain is to connect that memory to multiple areas. One such area is the motor area of the brain. This lesson will attempt to utilize American Sign Language to help students learn 1 John 1:9.
  • American Sign Language is a full language with its own grammar. Therefore, we will not learn the verse in sign language. However, we will learn a few specific words and use these words to help students memorize the verse.
  • Have students recite the verse teaching them new words as you do so.
