Pentateuch
Creation to the Flood
Adam
The first man. God created Adam on the sixth day as described in Genesis 1:26. God identified Adam's need for a helper in Genesis 2:18. Adam sinned and fell in Genesis 3.
Eve
The first woman. Eve was created in Genesis 2:22. Eve sinned and fall in Genesis 3.
Cain
The first son of Adam and Eve, Cain was born in Genesis 4:1. Cain brought offerings of the fruit of the ground to the Lord instead of the animal offerings that God had apparently commanded. Anger over God's respect for his younger brother's offering and rejection of his offering led Cain to kill his younger brother Abel. Cain was spared the death penalty and settled in the land of Nod.
Abel
The second son of Adam and Eve. Abel offered an acceptable offering to God. Cain killed Abel in Genesis 4:8.
Seth
The third son of Adam and Eve, Seth was born in Genesis 4:19. Through Seth was the line of Messiah.
Enoch #1
The first Enoch is introduced in Genesis 4:17. Around this time the Cainitic civilization is also founded. This civilization apparently was a vibrant civilization but left God out. The civilization was eradicated in the flood and no traces of the civilization remain today.
Enoch #2
In sharp contrast to the first Enoch, the second Enoch came from the line of Seth. Enoch is introduced in Genesis 5:19. Methuselah was a descendent of Enoch after which Enoch's walk with God became so close that God took Enoch.
Noah
Noah was the Son of Lamech and is recorded as having found grace in the eye of the Lord in Genesis 6:8. Noah was charged with building ark through which God delivered Noah, together with his sons, wife, and son's wives from the flood.
Shem
The oldest son of Noah. Together with Japeth, Shem covered Noah with a cloth when Noah became drunk and was seen Naked by Ham. Shem was the father of Arphaxad who was in the line of Messiah.
Ham
The second son of Noah. Ham saw Noah's nakedness and his son Caanan was cursed as a result.
Japheth
The third son of Noah covered Noah's nakedness with his brother Shem.
Promise to Egypt
Abraham
Abraham is first introduced in Genesis 11. Abraham was the son of Terah. It appears that Abraham was called out of Ur but stopped in the dirt of Haran in northwester Mesopotamia approximately 600 miles from Ur. Abraham married Sarah and bore Isaac. Abraham also bore Ishmael through Sarah's handmaid Hagar.
Sarah
Sarah was Abraham's principle wife and half-sister and is introduced in Genesis 11 alongside Abraham. Sarah gave birth to Isaac in her old age (90).
Lot
Lot was Abraham's nephew. We are first introduced to Lot in Genesis 11. In Genesis 13 Abraham and Lot separate because the land was no longer able to support both Abraham and Lot. Abraham goes to battle to rescue Lot in Genesis 14, and in Genesis 19 we Lot as an important person in the city of Sodom before the city's destruction.
Hagar
Hagar was Sarah's handmaid and became Abraham's concubine. Sarah conceived and bore Ishmael.
