- As students enter place them onto two different "Archeology Teams" give a minute or so for each team to come up with a name.
- Sand container with "artifacts"
Activity
- Tell students something like the following. We often think of archeology as finding documents or swords, or buildings. But a lot of archeology is finding old garbage. In fact, some of the most useful archeological sites have been town garbage pits.
- Teams race to the sand container and find an artifact then race back.
- The team which finds an artifact for every player first wins.
