*Jesus came so that we could have a relationship with God. Each of us is sinners and sin ruins our relationship withGod. But Jesus came to offer forgiveness.

Lesson

Introduction (5 minutes)

Friendly Competition

Set-up

  • As students enter place them onto two different "Archeology Teams" give a minute or so for each team to come up with a name.
  • Sand container with "artifacts"

Activity

  • Tell students something like the following. We often think of archeology as finding documents or swords, or buildings. But a lot of archeology is finding old garbage. In fact, some of the most useful archeological sites have been town garbage pits.
  • Teams race to the sand container and find an artifact then race back.
  • The team which finds an artifact for every player first wins.


Preview (5 minutes)

  • Read the following verses and ask students something like "how would you feel if you knew this was going to happen to you?" "Would you try to change the future?"
    • Psalm 41:9
