Pliability in Ministry[1]

Making Pots

  • What picture does Isaiah give in Isaiah 64:8?

  • What pronouns are used in Isaiah 64:8?

  • What picture does Romans 9:21 paint?

  • What question does Paul ask in Romans 9:20?

Reforming Pots

  • In Jeremiah 18:1-6 we have a very touching picture of the potter taking a marred pot and reforming the pot. What is it about the clay that allows the potter to do this?

Hardened Clay

  • Clay is pliable until it is placed in the kiln and fired. Once fired, clay becomes hard and can no longer be remolded. According to Jeremiah 19:11, what is the p[otters response to hardened clay that is marred?

Applying the Picture

  • What are some ways in which Christians fail to be pliable in their service?
  • What does it look like to be pliable in service to God?
  • What steps do you as an individual need to take to become more pliable?
