Warm-Up
Read each of the following verses (all verses are taken from the NKJV).
Admit
- Romans 3:23
- for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Underline the quantifier in the above verse. Who is it that has sinned?
- Romans 6:23
- For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Consider the first half of the verse: For the wages of sin is death. Underline the nouns. What relationship exists between the nouns?
- Ephesians 2:8,9
- For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
This phrase introduces two big no statements, underline these statements.
Romans 5:8
- But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
This verse highlights an important condition, or lack there of, on Christ's death for us. What is that non-condition?
Believe
- 1 Corinthians 15:3,4
- For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
Underline the three important facts about Christ that Paul makes central in 1 Corinthians 15:3,4.
- Acts 16:31
- So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Underline the command in Acts 16:31.
