Text: Acts 1:1-15

Setting the Stage:

Body

Revolution comes from a situation that needs changing (1-5).

Jesus demonstrated the need for change

=We each need personal change.

We need corporate change.

Example: in 2018 1.2 million people visited the E.R. for assult, 24,576 were mrudered

Example: in 2018 the CDC reported that 619,591 babies were killed in abortion

You might say, well that is because we live with a bunch of non-Christians around us. It is not our fault.

Example: Divorce rates 2020 saw 1,676,911 marriages, 630,505 divorces (37%)

Pew Research claims that protestants have a divorce rate of 51%

Don't tell me we don't have a problem. We have religion what we lack is revival.

Some SBC Specific Stats

MTR: Identify where you need change.

Revolution comes from a truth that is captivating (6-10).

Jesus is King

Captivating truth is based in fact

The Spirit is present

Captivating truth is based in experience

The Gospel is universal

Captivating truth is widely applicable

Jesus is coming

=Captivating truth is based in expectation

MTR: Focus on the truth.

Revolution comes from a team that is convinced (11-15).

Where were the disciples when Jesus was crucified?

Where are the disciples now in the absence of Jesus?

What were they doing?

How many were there?

What happened next?

MTR: Join the team.
