God uses memorials to both remind and teach (1-9).

The 12 stones were representative of the 12 tribes.

The 12 stones served a sign or reminder.

The Hebrew word זצרון is more than just recalling but remembering with loving reflection

The 12 stones provided a powerful teaching tool.
