How Far is the East From the West?
From 2Timothy2.org
Objectives
- Students will ask themselves what is means to say that God has forgiven them.
- Students will realize that God's forgiveness is complete.
Materials
- A map
- A compass
Introduction
- Take out a map, this can be a map of the city, a map of some area, the key is to have a File:Map.pdf.
- As the students to look at the map and tell you what is at the east edge of the map. Students should realize that the edge of the map does not represent the edge of the universe.
- As the students to look at the map and tell you what is at the west edge of the map. Students should realize that the edge of the map does not represent the edge of the universe.
- They key idea of understanding is for students at this point to realize that the east and west edges of the map could really extend indefinitely.
- Read Psalm 103:12, if God separates our sins as far as the east is from the west, what does that mean?
- It means that God's forgiveness from sin is complete.
Activity
- Have students map out the classroom using the following File:Classroom diagram.pdf, or a digram that more accurately reflects the classroom you are teaching in.
Closing
- Talk with students about what is means to say "As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us."
